In the age before man, beings ruled the Universe. Kronos, foremost among those beings, ruled with an iron fist. It was, however, foretold that one day his children would rise up and overthrow him. To forestall these events, Kronos would kill his children as soon as they were born. One day Gaia, mother earth, tricked Kronos, thus allowing a young Zeus to one day return and overthrow Kronos. Atlas fought on the side of Kronos and was doomed to hold up the constellations for all eternity. Prometheus, fought on the side of Zeus, but when he brought fire down from Mount Olympus to man, he too was tormented forever for his transgression. With Kronos vanquished and Zeus victorious this ended the Age of the Titans.
